01. Overview

This website (samirpoudel.com.np) is a personal portfolio and research site. It is operated solely by Samir Poudel. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what is not collected.

02. What we do not collect

  • Chat messages — conversations with the "Ask Sam" assistant are processed in real time and never written to any database or log.
  • Personal identifiers — no name, email, or account is required to use this site.
  • Cookies for tracking — no analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party tracking scripts are used.
  • Browser fingerprints or device identifiers.

03. What we do collect

  • IP address + timestamp — when you use the "Ask Sam" chat widget, your IP address and the time of the request are stored for up to 24 hours solely to enforce a usage limit (30 messages per day). This data is not linked to your identity and is automatically pruned.
  • Contact form submissions — if you email directly via the contact links, your message is handled through your own email client and is not stored on this site.

04. Third-party services

This site uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Groq — processes "Ask Sam" chat messages to generate AI responses. Messages are sent to Groq's API and are subject to Groq's privacy policy. No message content is stored on this site.
  • Supabase — hosts the database for portfolio content (publications, research data, rate limit logs). Supabase infrastructure is SOC 2 compliant.
  • Vercel — hosts this website. Vercel may log standard HTTP request data (IP, user agent, URL) as part of normal server operation, subject to Vercel's privacy policy.

05. Data retention

  • Rate limit logs (IP + timestamp): deleted after 24 hours.
  • All other visitor data: not collected, therefore not retained.

06. Your rights

You have the right to request deletion of any data associated with your IP address. To make a request, email spoudel04@gmail.com. Because no personally identifiable information beyond IP addresses is stored, and those are pruned within 24 hours, most requests are satisfied automatically.

07. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated occasionally. The date below reflects the last revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
